Which UK University will be the first to ban the plastic bottle?

Universities in America and Canada have banned sales of single-use, plastic water bottles.

If you have water on tap, you don’t need to sell it wrapped in plastic.

Campuses and small towns are the perfect places to make this change happen.

Winnipeg University was the first to ban the plastic bottle, and Washington University in St Louis was the first in America. There are now many campaigns across colleges and Universities to ban the plastic water bottle. In the UK London has considered banning the plastic bottled water, and Selfridges has stopped all sales of plastic bottled water and received rewards for doing it!!

We use far too much plastic, and it is polluting our environment with negative impacts on wildlife. If we carry on as we are, there will be more plastic in the sea than fish by 2050.

Team jerry is working with several universities to help them ban the plastic bottle. We are very excited to be working with Enactus teams from Loughborough and Nottingham Universities to create new business models for the sale of water on campus. This is important because the biggest barrier to Universities is the loss of sales of bottled water and the costs of rolling out more drinking fountains. If these financial barriers can be removed then we should see the first University get on board soon!!
